From the beginning of creation, mankind has been given a tremendous power tool by God; which is unique among all other species. That tool is the MIND.
According to Merriam- Webster, the mind is the element or complex of elements in an individual that feels, perceives, thinks, wills, and especially reasons. As such, it is the creative centre of the human body.
The mind is a power tool given by God only to human beings. We were made in God’s image and likeness. When God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and to multiply, he was referring to the ability to reproduce and to create. God has given us the ability to create beyond our human reproductive system. That is powerful! Unfortunately many people either do not know it, or do not care. As a result, they neglect such great power and live their lives beneath their potential. Many chose to use that power to hurt others; while some are unable to use it effectively, even though they yearn to do so.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:12-2) The word “transformed” used here is the same as the transformation that occurred in Jesus Christ on the mountain of transfiguration (Matthew 17:2 and Mark 9:2). An essential means of transformation is the renewal of the mind.
What’s wrong with the human mind if it is created in God’s image? Why does our mind need renewing? And what does this renewal look like? And how can we pursue and enjoy this renewal?
In the next few weeks, I will uncover several aspects of this powerful tool (the mind) to help you engage with God, your creator and co-create the kind of world that he intended for you to live in.
